Christie and Wesley Werts are a loving husband and wife pair who got married to start a blended family after dating for five years.
A lovely family was made up of Christie’s daughter Megan, Wesley’s children Austin and Dakota, and Christie.
They were unaware, though, that their love story would take an unexpected turn and that they would meet the amazing baby Levi through adoption.
The couple’s tenacity and resolve were evident throughout Levi’s adoption process. After waiting for the adoption process to finish for sixteen months, the Werts family was excited to finally bring their newborn home.
However, the adoption narrative of Christie and her family takes a touching turn that makes Levi’s adoption seem like a dream come true. Levi was born in Texas in August 2021, and his biological mother—a previous romantic partner of Wesley’s—struggled with drug misuse during her pregnancy. Sadly, Newsweek claims that she died four days after Levi’s early 33-week delivery due to complications from the coronavirus and addiction.
The two learned about Levi after Wesley’s sister broke the awful news about his ex-wife. Christie was determined to provide Levi with a secure and caring home because she had personal experience with foster care.
Even more shocking, for three months before to meeting Levi, Christie had nightmares about a blonde kid with blue eyes. This dream had a big impact on her decision to adopt Levi after learning of his existence.
The Werts family came from Ohio to Texas to meet Levi through Child Protection Services, and their first encounter was everything Christie had imagined. “The moment I walked in, I fell in love with this blond baby with blue eyes.” It looked pretty weird. The mother added, “This was my son.”
Even though adopting a child, especially a newborn, might be tough at times, the Werts family encountered greater challenges. After they sold their Ohio home and moved to Texas so that Levi’s biological father could attend court, they had to go through a legal process that included the termination of his parental rights.
After sixteen months of court appearances, home visits, and interviews, Levi’s adoption was granted, enabling the parents to finally reunite with their little son.
Even though the tale had a happy conclusion, some internet users criticized Christie for disclosing it to the public.
A witness said, “It’s going to cause him a lot of depression and more when he grows up, poor baby.”
“There are some things you don’t share on social media, and this is one of them?” said another person.
Others expressed their happiness and wished the newlyweds and their family a very good life.
