Despite the criticism, Miranda Lambert didn’t appear to regret humiliating one of her followers.
As Mamas Uncut recently disclosed, the country music singer is currently the star of a Vegas residency slot. She also abruptly stopped performing at one of her gigs last week to rage at a fan.
According to reports, Lambert saw a paid fan taking a “selfie” as she was performing her song “Tin Man.” Lambert took advantage of the opportunity to confront the paying fan in front of the entire crowd.
She said, “I’m going to take a moment to myself.” Lambert then urged the woman she was pointing to to stop snapping pictures instead of listening to the music.
The fact that these women are distracted by their selfies and not paying attention to the song irritates me a little. I apologize, but I don’t like it at all. We’re here to enjoy some country music tonight. I’m playing some fucking country tunes.
The woman set down her phone and Lambert went back to his act. When Lambert called out the “selfie-takers” during the performance, her fans were ready to cheer.
Following her last performance, Lambert interrupted her concert again after spotting a fan wearing a t-shirt that read, “Shoot tequila, not selfies.” The garment seemed to appeal to Lambert.
Lambert told the crowd that her top said, “Shoot tequila, not selfies.” “She did it, not me!”
“The goal of attending a concert is to make memories and have an experience. Another Twitter user commented, “Anyone should be able to take a picture to record that memory.”
Since then, the purported “self-taker” has responded to Lambert’s actions and shared the photos she took. Adela Calin said, “It was 30 seconds at most,” in response to the question of how long it took to take the picture before they returned to their seats. They “took the picture quickly and were going to sit back down,” she added.
However, before they can get to that point, Miranda Lambert has already called them out. Calin admitted that Lambert’s disparaging remarks about them in front of thousands of people “appalled” her.
“The teacher told me to sit down again in my place and reprimanded me for doing something wrong, and it felt like I was back at school,” she said.… She was determined to make us look young, arrogant, and immature. But we were just grown women in our 30s to 60s trying to take a picture.
