Neglected Cat’s Astonishing Transformation Highlights a Deeper Issue We Can’t Ignore

Cats are considered to be independent creatures that spend much of their time outside roaming and only come inside for meals and bathroom breaks. Taking care of them is easy because they are self-sufficient. However, their fur may become a serious issue if they are not regularly trimmed. Unfortunately, Hidey, a cat whose owner had Alzheimer’s, was there when this abuse occurred. Hidey’s owner ignored her for years since he was unable to provide her with the required care. Animal rescuers were shocked to see her because she had grown so matted that she looked like an octopus.

They disclosed that it may have been up to two years since Hidey was groomed after she was taken to the Pittsburgh Animal Rescue League Shelter and Wildlife Center. In other areas, her fur had grown to an incredible six or eight inches.

Thankfully, Hidey was helped by veterinarian Jenn Levitzki. She published a video of the grooming process on Facebook and stated, “Hidey has the worst matting I have ever seen; she has dreadlocks.” To make sure she was comfortable, Hidey was given a little amount of medication before to the therapy.

“After our medical team shaved pounds of tangled fur off her body, this cat is definitely feeling so much better now!” The shelter posted on their Facebook page, according to People magazine.

After her incredible transformation, Hidey was welcomed into a new home with a distant relative of her prior owner. This touching story serves as a reminder of the value of visiting our elderly loved ones and their pets.

Since even small acts can have a significant influence on the lives of our elderly neighbors and relatives, it is essential that we spend time with them. By doing this, we can ensure both their health and the health of their pets. whether we don’t get in touch, we could never find out whether they’re experiencing issues.
