One summer morning, as the people of the little coastal town awakened, they were surprised to see a large, weathered box that had washed up on the shore overnight. It was sealed firmly, and despite its antiquity, it was covered with odd patterns. The folks gathered together, curiosity piqued. After much deliberation, they decided to open it there on the coast.
The audience gave out a collective gasp when the lid cracked open. Inside the box were a variety of old items, each more mysterious than the previous. But it was more than simply the items that caught their attention. Nestling amid the items was something that seemed almost alive.
A brilliant sphere with a faint, odd light pulsating within lay at the bottom. One of the town’s boldest citizens reached out to touch the orb, and it began to hum, spreading a low, resonant sound around the village. Everyone took a step back, wondering what they had let loose.
The markings on the box began to illuminate in sync with the ball as it started to hover. The dilemma that the villagers now had to face was frightening: Had they really opened a portal to another realm, or was this the beginning of something even more dangerous?

The hiker was presented with a decision: should he go and examine the mystery behind the door, or should he return and let it remain unsolved, understanding that he could have just discovered a long-buried secret?
