Life may be quite hard and challenging these days. Everyone should be free to ask for assistance when needed for their own mental health. That’s simply the decision made by a lady.
She asked her neighbor for help, never dreaming that she would get a letter back. Keep reading to find out more.
A woman had to leave on a trip and needed pet care. She needed someone to look after Jennifer, Oreo, and Smokey, her three dogs. Organizing care for three dogs is a very different story than setting up care for one dog, which is usually not too difficult.
Remarkably, her senior neighbor agreed to help her when she really needed it!
When she returned after her excursion, an envelope had been slid under her door. Because it was so amazing, she later shared the message—found inside the envelope—on Reddit.
The letter was concise and direct. It started off by wishing her a happy afternoon. The message ultimately made its point when it said, “This letter is about your vacation two weeks ago, and how you let me babysit Smokey, Oreo, and Jennifer.” “I just wanted to write you a letter of gratitude,” was how it began.
You are conscious of my advanced years. Because these businesses aren’t as busy as they used to be, I’m not as noticeable outdoors as I previously was. Furthermore, my dad had a stage four colon cancer diagnosis two years ago, in the midst of the pandemic. After he died, I was left to live alone in my home. I don’t have a partner or kids. I might go to sleep one day and never wake up. Every day, I just sit here and ponder what I have accomplished for this world.
That is, until I got to know Smokey, Oreo, and Jennifer.
I have never met someone as gorgeous, funny, or bothersome as your furry companions (don’t worry, they didn’t wreck my place too much!). They gave me the motivation to rebuild my life. I started waking up early every day. I started taking your pets for walks outside for the first time in years. They would laugh at my fleeting melancholy every ten minutes and rub on my leg or bark.
The best part of their visit was when I took them to the park. It was a long time since I had spent so much time outside. It not only helped me get back in touch with my animals, but it also introduced me to new people and made friends with a few others. I was overjoyed to be able to chat to friends, interact with people, and feel like a part of the human race once more.
I acknowledge that my tone may appear existential at the moment, but I’m being sincere. I feel good knowing that I’m making a difference in someone’s life, even if it’s just my neighbor.
I got two dogs shortly after that. (Excuse me; perhaps you heard some noise emanating from my residence.) I now go to the park on a daily basis with them and have conversations with other people I meet there. Either way, I simply wanted to express my gratitude. You once again gave my life meaning. And that is the only thing that matters.
With regards,
Robert (P.S. Funny, I think it’s time to mow the lawn!)
