Grappling with his son’s suicide, Michael Madsen still hopes to find answers

The last text message actor Michael Madsen of Reservoir Dogs got from his son said, “I love you dad,” and nothing more.

The son of a well-known Hollywood actor, Hudson Madsen, 26, shot himself in the head, according to his father, following his first tour as a U.S. Army Sergeant stationed in Hawaii.

“I am in shock as my son, whom I just spoke with a few days ago, said he was happy—my last text from him was ‘I love you dad,'” Kill Bill franchise star Madsen revealed to the LA Times.

“I didn’t notice any signs of depression. It is really dreadful and awful. “I’m just trying to make sense of it and comprehend what happened,” he continued.

Quentin Tarantino served as Hudson’s godfather. Hudson was the eldest child of Madsen and his wife DeAnna Madsen. The brothers Luke and Kalvin were the next oldest children. Madsen’s previous wife, Jeannine Bisignano, gave birth to two additional boys, Max and Christian.

He married Carlie in 2019, and she shared positive comments about their relationship on social media. Carlie’s social media profiles show that the pair considered IVF after failing to conceive naturally.

Carlie shared on Instagram a selfie of herself in a hospital gown, tagging it with the information that she had recently had tumor removal, just a week before he passed away on January 22, 2022.

“I just want to give a shout-out to my amazing husband!” she writes in the post. He has been extremely patient over the entire procedure. Yesterday, I had surgery to remove a tumor from one of my breasts. “We spent about seven hours at the hospital yesterday,” Carlie continued. While I was in surgery, he went to Target and bought me a card, flowers, warm pajamas, and my favorite candy! He has also been of great assistance to me in my recovery, for which I am very grateful.

A few weeks later, she simply captioned a cute picture of herself and Hudson on Twitter, saying, “I miss you so much.” Everyone was puzzled by the circumstances surrounding Hudson’s suicide.

The 64-year-old father, according to Madsen, said, “He had typical life challenges that people have with finances, but he wanted a family,” in an attempt to convey his sadness over his suicide. Considering that he was considering his future, this is astounding. Simply said, I’m not sure what went wrong.

In addition, the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor Madsen disclosed that, although appearing happy on the outside, his son—who had been in Afghanistan—was dealing with mental health issues. The actor said that he stopped receiving treatment when he needed it because his son was keeping his problems to himself.

Madsen requested that the military investigate because he believed “that officers and rank and file were shaming.” The investigation’s conclusions are still being kept a secret, though.

One month after Hudson committed suicide, Madsen—who was well-known for his work on Quentin Tarantino’s graphic comedies—was taken into custody in Malibu at the home he had just been forced to leave. Madsen was granted bail after being accused of trespassing.

The actor has a prior criminal record; according to TMZ, he was accused of DUI in 2019 after an SUV collision and of endangering children in 2012.

The actor got into a battle with his teenage son after discovering that he was consuming marijuana when he went inside his home.TMZ claims that after a physical fight between Madsen and his young kid, the boy had many injuries when the cops came. When Madsen was taken into jail, he reportedly appeared to be drunk. The son’s name remained undisclosed, but Madsen’s was revealed.

“We are crushed and overwhelmed with grief and pain at the loss of Hudson,” the family said in a statement following his passing. All those who knew and loved him will always carry his memories and light in their hearts.

On January 23, 2023, Carlie shares a heartfelt tribute to her husband, whom she lovingly calls “Lump,” on Instagram. How a year has gone by without you is beyond me. That day’s pain is still precisely the same today. I think of you every morning when I wake up and every evening before I go to bed. It’s impossible to express how much I suffer and how much I miss you.

She remarked, “I just wish we could have talked and you could have told me what was going on that day.” If you thought there was no other way to make things right, I apologize. I’m sorry I didn’t notice the symptoms and couldn’t take more action. I apologize for letting you down. You are never distant from my thoughts or side, please know that. Lump, you are sorely missed and I love you even more.

Tragically, Hudson Madsen departed this life, leaving behind a husband, son, best friend, and hero. This is the ideal chance to show someone how much you care, if they need to hear it.
