The Ukrainian woman Valentina has always desired children but has had difficulty becoming pregnant. When she was sixty years old, she made the decision to seek assistance from a family planning clinic in order to have the opportunity to become pregnant.
When she discovered she was having her first child in 2010, she had enough money saved for the surgery. Everyone was shocked when, in 2011, Valentina gave birth to a healthy baby girl named Anna-Maria.
Valentina chose to keep her and her daughter’s lives private and shunned interviews and guests in spite of the congrats and media attention.
Four years later, Valentina discussed the difficulties she encountered as a result of animosity and criticism from others in her first interview. Now nine years old, Anna-Maria is a bright and kind child who, in spite of her challenges, assists her mother and performs well in school.
