I love animals, but I can say without a doubt that an adult mountain lion has no business being kept in the back of a pickup truck.
But a mountain lion named Mufasa was forced to dwell just there.
When he was a traveling circus act in Peru, his life was made into a living hell for the sole purpose of entertaining the audience and enriching his owner.
Luckily, he was saved by a few animal lovers.
In zoos, circuses, and other entertainment venues, many animals are still neglected and mistreated today. Even if the lives of many animals have lately improved, more has to be done.
because thousands of animals in need continue to be denied the chance to live happy, fulfilled lives and are forced to live in small spaces.
Mufasa, a mountain lion in chains, was found on a pickup truck in Peru. He had been forced to live twenty years in a life he neither earned nor desired.
Mufasa was lucky to experience good fortune in later life. In 2015, following several months of intense labor, the animal rights organization Animal Defenders International was able to secure his release. He was discovered when the organization tried to shut down a whole Peruvian circus.
Mufasa’s health greatly improved after he became independent. Rather than having to live a life of terror and persecution, he was granted the fundamental right that all wild creatures deserve: to spend his last years in the embrace of nature and according to his own terms.
The touching tale of Mufasa’s rescue is told in the film below, which also shows his initial steps toward freedom. It’s truly beautiful!
After being saved from the circus, Mufasa enjoyed a few months of freedom until his health began to decline.
Kidney disease and other aging issues have resulted from twenty years of being chained to the back of a pickup truck. He died in 2015, according to Animal Defenders International.
Still, his story illuminates an important issue.
Mufasa was a lovely, kind creature who delighted in having his back petted. Though it is unfortunate that he did not have more time to spend in his native Amazon, it would have been even more tragic if he had never experienced freedom.
Mustafa did not deserve the treatment he received! Please let others know about this film to show that you too are in favor of animals!
